Progress Through Partnership

Moving on to Secondary

The transition to Secondary School begins in the September as your child starts Year 6. Bradford Council's Admissions Team will send home the "Applying for Secondary School' booklet in order for you to apply for a secondary school place, usually within the first week of the new school year.

The booklet will include the dates and times of Open Evenings for you to view your preferred secondary schools - make sure you view at least 3 schools before making your preference.

Choices Information Evening

Each year we will hold a Choices Information Evening. The evening will cover the application process, dispel myths and also give you a chance to talk to Secondary School Representatives from both Bingley Grammar and Beckfoot schools. This is a real opportunity to get a head start before the formal Open Evenings.

You can apply for a school place online and MUST do this before the deadline (which is usually at the end of October).

Make sure when completing the application form that you:

  • your address details are up to date and correct
  • list at least three preferred schools
  • fill in any required supplementary forms if applicable

If you have any queries or concerns, please contact the Admissions Team (secondaryadmissions@bradford.gov.uk) or contact Jackie Rosano, Parental Involvement Worker.

Ermysted's & Skipton Girls Schools

Please be aware that for both Ermysted's and Skipton Girls School, their admission procedure starts much earlier - keep an eye on their websites from May onwards:
