Attendance

If a child is unwell and not at school, Parents/carers are asked to contact the office on 01274 568361 or email attendance@eldwick.bradford.sch.uk.

Diarrhoea and Vomiting

Following Government Guidance: Health Protection in Schools and Other Childcare Facilities: Chapter 9: managing specific infectious diseases, parents are requested to collect their child if they are vomiting or have diarrhoea in school.

Then, a child with:

  1. diarrhoea and vomiting will be excluded until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped.
  2. diarrhoea will be monitored by the parent. If the child has 2 or more liquid or semi-liquid stools in the 24 hour period, they must be excluded until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped. If they do not have 2 or more episodes in 24 hours, they may return to school the following day.
  3. vomiting will be monitored by the parent. If the child is fit and well, has slept and eaten and does not have a temperature, they may return to school the following day.

In the event of an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea, the school reserves the right to implement the full 48 hour exclusion following any single episode of vomiting and diarrhoea.

Parents are asked to complete a Holiday Request form for permission to take their children out of school in term time. Holidays during term time are discouraged.  Please click here to download a form  Click here to access the form.

All absences are followed up by the school office.

Polite Notice - Arriving or Leaving School over Lunchtime

School is aware that children may need to go to appointments during the school day and we are happy to accommodate this.

Children who felt unwell in the morning but who improve during the day are also able to come into school (unless they have had sickness or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours).

However, in the interests of your child, we do insist that parents do NOT take or return children during the lunchtime period.

Year 2 and below have their lunchtime between 12 pm and 1 pm and Year 3 and above have their lunch between 12.15 pm and 1.15 pm.  Children must be signed in and out and are in different locations around school at this time.  As the Office has reduced staffing over lunchtime it is difficult to locate and return children to/from the playground.  With around 420 children to go through the hall for lunch there is a running order for the classes and children could easily miss their designated ‘slot’ which would be both time-consuming for the lunchtime staff and may mean that your child would not be in the dining hall with anyone from their year group.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
