Wow From Home

‘Wow Work’ in EYFS

Rationale

At Eldwick, we want pupils to be motivated by the intrinsic value of achievement; however, we are committed to acknowledging students for developing good learning and social habits through explicit recognition and celebration of children’s achievements.

The motivation for children to achieve should be intrinsic, not reward driven. Stamps and stickers are not to be used as an incentive e.g. if you do this… you might get a sticker (please see EYFS Appendix of the Behaviour Policy for more details)

The celebrating of ‘Wow Work’ moments in EYFS, is another way in which we do this.

Wow from home

Parents and families know their children best, they also get to see achievements we might not e.g. riding a bike for the first time, swimming a length of the pool.  It is really important that these special moments are shared and recognised by school.

Families are given paper copies of the ‘Wow from home’ certificates and are encouraged to ask for more as they are needed.

Families are encouraged to hand completed certificates to an adult at school so we can celebrate them and display them in class. We would love to see any badges, certificates or trophies your child has achieved too.

‘Wow Work’ display

Each classroom in EYFS has a ‘Wow Work’ display. Copies of work, photos and certificates are displayed here to celebrate pupil achievement from home and school. This is updated at least half termly.
